zitt/matis

Joseph Zitt and Jonathan Matis perform primarily improvised music for voice and guitar. Jonathan plays electric guitar with a variety of preparations and signal processors and Joseph sings, chants, and sounds in languages known and unknown.

Their music draws freely on the vocabularies of free jazz, experimental classical, ambient, and world musics. The musicians' backgrounds in improvisation, composition, experimentation, and classical, religious, jazz, and rock musics combine to create new music that is as exciting as it is enthralling. The music rewards both careful listening in intimate spaces and ambient experiences in larger settings, as well as being well suited to live radio and webcast performances.
